An animation for NPR’s Jazz Night in America podcast. In his own words, celebrated pianist and composer, Abdullah Ibrahim recounts his story of growing up in apartheid South Africa, and the ingenious ways his music helped him survive.

Our visual approach took inspiration from old jazz record covers and posters, along with the modernist graphic style of Saul Bass.
